Poker Cash Games - Overview

Poker Cash Games are the most simple form of online poker., all you need is the money to sit down at the table and you can start playing poker. Unlike either Single Table Tournaments or Multi Table Tournaments, the blinds will not increase at any stage, and you can leave the table any time you want.

In Poker Cash Games you take real money to the table and you then have the chance to win big or lose it all! Don't let that scare you off though, unlike what you see in films, you won't be in situation where your car keys or the deeds to your house are on the table in the balance, you can only lose the money that you take to the table.

Poker Cash Games are normal games of poker, whether it be Texas Hold Em, Omaha, Omaha Hi Lo, Seven Card Stud Poker or Seven Card Stud Poker Hi Lo, the poker starts with you winning, losing, betting and folding like any normal game. Unlike tournaments though, the blinds stay constant at the same level.

Poker Cash Games - How To Play

Once you've selected the poker room that's right for you, you then deposit funds into your online poker account and then it's time for you to choose the game. When considering which Poker Cash Games suit you best, you need to first decide which type of poker you want to play.

To learn how to play the most popular poker games, look at these guides:

  • Texas Hold Em

  • Omaha

  • Omaha Hi Lo

  • Seven Card Stud Poker

  • Seven Card Stud Poker Hi Lo

  • You then need to select which blind level you want to play at, with these varying from very low to scarily high levels where the big boys play. Finally you have to decide which betting structure suits you best, Fixed Limit Poker, Pot Limit Poker or No Limit Poker and then select that perfect table and take a seat.

When deciding which betting structure is right for you, the answer to this question depends completely on your style of play. Look at our betting structure advice page to help you choose what's best for you.

In most poker rooms you then have the choice of which seat you want to sit in out of those still available. Once seated you need to decide to either wait for the big blind to come around to you before being dealt in, or you can get dealt in immediately by posting a big blind from out of position. Our advice would be to click on the "auto-post blinds" option that you should find in all poker rooms, this saves time and simplifies things for you.

Unlike tournaments, once the game has started, if you want to have a break or want to try your luck on a different table, you can sit-out of the game for a while or you can get up and leave. There a few points to consider though:

  • You can't leave a game and then immediately come back to that game with less money than you left with.
  • To 'sit out' of the game for a while you simply click on the 'sit out' option that you should find in all poker rooms, and then simply click on it again on your return to rejoin the game. If you've missed your turn for the blinds you either have to post them immediately or wait for them to come round again.
