COMPARE BEST POKER HAND RANKING
Royal Flush - A straight from a ten to an ace with all five cards of the same suit. In poker all of the suits are ranked equally.
Straight Flush - Any straight with all five cards of the same suit.
Four of a Kind - Any four cards of the same rank. If two players share the same Four of a Kind, the bigger fifth card (known as the kicker) decides who wins the pot.
Full House - Any three cards of the same rank together with any two cards of the same rank. The rank of the three cards is compared to see who wins the pot in the event of two players achieving a Full House, for example "Aces full of Kings" is a bigger full house than "Kings full of Aces."
Flush - Any five cards of the same suit (not consecutive). The highest card of the five determines the rank of the flush. An Ace-high flush is the highest possible flush and will beat all other flushes (apart from a straight flush). In the event of players achieving the same flush, then the next highest card will determine the winner. For example an Ace-high flush with a King beats an Ace-high flush with the next highest card of a Queen.
Straight - Any five consecutive cards of different suits. Aces can count as either a high or a low card. The strongest possible straight is A K Q J 10.
Three of a Kind - Any three cards of the same rank. Three-of-a-kind Aces, with a King and a Queen as side cards is the best possible three of a kind.
Two Pair - Any two cards of the same rank together with another two cards of the same rank. The best possible two-pair is Aces and Kings. The highest pair of the two determines the rank of the two-pair.
One Pair - Any two cards of the same rank. The best possible one-pair hand are Aces.
High Card - Any hand not in the above-mentioned hands. Again, ace-high is the the best possible high-card hand. In the event of a tie the next lowest card is then compared and again if it's still a tie you keep checking the next lowest card until you find a winner.
HI-LO GAME HAND RANKING
When playing Hi-Lo Games (Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo and Omaha Hi-Lo) the best hand rankings change slightly. In Hi-Lo games the main pot is split between the High Pot and the Low Pot, to win the High Pot you need to get the best hand as shown in the hand rankings above, but to win the Low Pot you have to have the lowest ranked hand and this is not covered above. The main rules of the lowest ranked hand are as follows:
A low hand is a hand that contains five different cards which are 8 or lower.
Straights and flushes do not in the lowest hand.
Aces are the lowest card.
If two players have the same hands then you share the low pot equally, regardless of suit.
In Hi/Lo games the best possible low hand is a 5-high straight, called a wheel or a bicycle.
If no player gets five different cards of 8 or lower, then there is no low hand and the highest hand winner takes the pot.
